In 1909 HFS Morgan, the founder of the Morgan Motor Company, constructed his first three-wheeler. The marque was to be produced for over forty years, outliving all its competitors. During this time, it was actively raced, trialled and used for record-breaking, enjoying an outstanding number of successes unequalled by any other cyclecar. Today, a quarter of a century after the last of these machines received its final touches at the Malvern factory, it is more highly esteemed than ever, its fine sporting tradition kept alive by the many racing activities of the Morgan Three-wheeler Club.

The authors trace its evolution from 1909 to the end of production in 1952, giving details of body designs, annual mechanical improvements and full specifications of the various engines fitted. Modifications were an essential feature in the development of the racing Morgans, and the authors also describe the many specialized versions prepared by private owners, and their impact on the competition scene. Throughout, first-hand reminiscences of designers, engineers and competitors are interwoven with vivid descriptions of the often arduous trials, races and courses of the period.
