ARGUABLY THE most popular British sports car ever built, the MGB has competed in every form of motor sport, from its launch in 1962 to the present day. Much has previously been written about the 'works cars', entered by the Abingdon factory, but John Baggott covers new ground, tracing the subsequent history of some of the well- known cars after they had passed into private hands. He also describes the competition outings of many of the 1960s and 1970s club-racing MGBs, some of which went on to become famous and, in a few cases, more famous than their factory counterparts.

There are chapters about racing MGCs and MGB V8s, and the section on the MGC GTS lightweights sets out for the first time the complete ownership of these special cars. FIA historic racing, sprints and hill climbs are also included.

The current MG Car Club BCV8 Championship and the BARC/MG Owners Club Championship are each covered in detail. There is also a great deal of information on racing the Elva Courier, Gilbern GT 1800, Ginetta G11 and TVR Grantura/1800S, all of which competed using MGB engines.
