During the 1960s and 1970s, a winning race program was essential to a manufacturer's high performance image and success. For Chrysler, General Motors, Ford, and AMC, "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday" wasn't an abstract concept - it was a working philosophy. Manufacturers funneled millions of dollars into developing the fastest, lightest, and best handling race cars for stock and modified racing.
