The Stratos was built for one reason only to give Lancia the World Championship, which it did in 1974, 1975 and 1976. It stayed competitive for several years. It was only for homologation reasons that cars for sale were produced. All were left-hand drive. It was engineered to be tough, thus the structure centered around a steel cockpit of great strength and very cramped.
The engine was the same as the Dino 246GT.
