Description
By: Clymer .
The venerable Yamaha Warrior, first introduced in 1987, has remained basically unchanged through an amazing 15+ year production run. The Warrior powerplant, unlike its smaller sport ATV brothers the Blaster and Banshee, which use two-stroke engines, is a four-stroke. This provides a linear power band that is well matched to the six-speed transmission. With a reverse gear and electric starter the Warrior provides features that a pure sport machine like the Banshee does not provide, while only being 11 pounds heavier.
The engine's predictable torque, combined with an equally stable sus-pension featuring a rear shock with adjustable rebound dampening, and overall light weight makes the Warrior an ideal trail machine. With the addition of a pair of racks, many Warriors have also proven to be adequate utility mounts (the Wolverine uses the same engine). Little wonder that with such versatility, simple design features and quality construction, the Warrior has been a long running part of Yamaha's ATV lineup.
