Description

Author: Don Butler, Hardbound, 336 Pages, ISBN: 9780912612195 - 1992 Edition of 1982 original - **Second-Hand book in excellent unread condition !

On the following pages is the most comprehensive record of Hudsons and related makes ever put together. When first contemplated, the book was to be titled The Cars of Hudson, start with events that preceded and formalized founding of the company, and cover all Hudson, Essex and Terraplane models sold in the U.S.A. But as research extended beyond the author's own collection of reference material, many other aspects of Hudson history were discovered and chosen for inclusion.

The end result concentrates on the vehicles because they were the prime purpose of the book and the company, while many notations of events within the company, and things affecting it, qualified changing the title to The History of Hudson.

In planning the contents of the book, it soon was realized that Hudson's popularity and involvement overseas should be included. Most important in this aspect was the British operation, which mandated coverage of the interesting Railtons and Brough Superiors. Researching journals for these also disclosed the stock and special Hudson, Essex, and Terraplane cars of British manufacture, as well as some built in other foreign countries. Canadian cars were not given space, since they were so much like the American variety. The author would have liked much broader coverage of all foreign Hudsons, but researching for them would have been much more difficult and time-consuming.
