Description
The world of motoring remembers its industrialists, engineers and designers, and celebrates those pioneer motorists who publicised and popularised the car and its potential. Yet the exploits of the well-known heroes of early motoring depended upon the energy and elbow grease of the garage mechanic, and the petrol served by his wife from a hand-cranked pump on the forecourt. Sadly, although the country garage revolutionised rural life, those who carried out the mundane work of repairing and fuelling Britain's early cars are all but forgotten. This book is a reminder of a bygone era, and of these men and women whose tools and services were the keys to the motor industry's success.
