Over the decades, the Alfa Romeo brand has developed a large number of followers worldwide, irrespective of age and gender.
This famous and illustrious name stirs up strong yet mixed emotions among devoted Alfisti. Alfa Romeos have always evoked images of little red racing cars with the famous quadrifoglio or green four-leaf clover emblazoned on their flanks, racing along small, winding roads of the Targa Florio or through the numerous Italian villages that line the route of the famous Mille Miglia.
These events helped Alfa Romeo develop a reputation of legendary proportions during the pre— and post-war era. From the 1960s until the mid 1980s, cars developed by the famous Autodelta name (Alfa Romeo's now defunct competition department), helped cement the brand in the annuals of history.
This book is about the development and history of one of the latter versions of a car developed by Autodelta at the beginning of the 1980s. Due to political influences of that era, the car's lifeline was cut short, and it was never developed to its full potential.
What we have tried to do in this book is offer a comprehensive insight into the history and development as well as a detailed account of the specifications of this unique vehicle, called the Alfetta Turbodelta GRP. 4 and, to a lesser extent, the Alfetta GT. GRP.2.
