The Vintage Sports Car Club of Victoria was formed in 1945 by a group of motor sport enthusiasts who appreciated the quality of the great cars of the 1920s. the club has grown from an initial membership of about 15 to several hundred members.
From the inauspicious early days of meetings at members' homes and the boat sheds on the banks of the Yana River, to the present Gatehouse premises in Parkville, the VSCC of Victoria has been on important part of members' and their families' lives as both an outlet for their interest in vintage sports cars and as a forum for friendship and social events.
The book features wonderful photographs from the 1930s to the present day, capturing the unique spirit of the times and the passion of both past and present members for vintage sports cars. Extracts from archival material and recollections from those who were there in the early days provide a unique history of the cars, the people and the events spanning over 50 years.
The camaraderie, the humour, the detailed descriptions of the cars and their performances on hill climbs, trials and rallies and the unique characters make for fascinating reading.
