In 1948 Norton's new twin appeared as a 500cc and soon became known as the Dominator. The new bike was well received. Although not particularly impressive, this changed with the introduction of the Featherbed frame in 1952. These Dominators all looked good, sounded good, ran well and steered with precision. Bigger engines were introduced and production continued even after the Company was taken over in 1966.
The final Dominator, the 650cc Mercury, rolled down the line in 1970.
