Author: Bob Constanduros, Softbound, ISBN: 0946132046 - 1st Edition, - Second Hand book in excellent order !

THE WRITER

Bob Constanduros was born in Sussex in 1947, and within ten years was a regular visitor to nearby Goodwood, thanks to his father, who had raced at Brooklands, and his uncle, former commentator James Tilling. When Goodwood closed, Bob's motor racing interest wilted a little, but meanwhile, he spent a year at Grenoble University.

In the late sixties, he began a career in journalism, and at the same time, his motor racing interest was rekindled when he met Autosport editor Simon Taylor. Within a couple of years, he was freelancing for Autosport, and in the early seventies, he joined the magazine full-time.

He left Autosport in 1977 to go freelance, travelling around Europe covering races from Formula Three and Group Two to Grands Prix. Since then. he has built up an impressive list of contacts, now working for magazines in France, Switzerland, Italy, Japan, South America, Sweden, Spain, the United States, Canada, as well as in Britain.

When he's in England, Bob lives in Battersea, London.

THE CHIEF PHOTOGRAPHER

John Townsend is a sports photographer specialising in motor racing. Grands Prix take up most of his time with the odd Formula 2 and Formula 3 race when he has time. He also covers major sports car races such as World Endurance and Le Mans.

He is single and lives in North London. His photographs are seen all over the world, Europe, Japan, South and North America and he is a regular contributor to Autosport in the U.K.

He uses Nikon equipment because it is very strong and stands up to all the punishment professionals expect of them. They are also very heavy and at a typical race his bag weighs around 25 kgs with all the films and accessories on board.

He has three camera bodies, two motor drives and a range of lenses from wide angle up to 500mm. Sometimes he will hire long lenses like 600mm for circuits like Silverstone and a fisheye lens for circuits like Monaco and Long Beach where the tall buildings make excellent backgrounds and can be used to advantage.
