This is a book about the second phase of Lotus history. The first phase was that of the do-it-yourself cars, generally competition-orientated; the third phase has seen the Lotus become an up-market super car.
For many enthusiasts, the middle period is the most rewarding because the cars are so collectable. The Lotus models covered by this book are of brilliantly original design, but many of their components have been adapted from more mundane vehicles, a which assists enormously in the acquisition of cheap spare parts.
Above all, these cars are marvellous fun to drive, and the jaded motorist, who has become bored with his everyday journeys, can recapture the thrill of driving for pleasure.
