INTRODUCTION:
For most of us, driving a kart is a thrilling and rewarding experience. For many people, winning is the primary objective. It's a matter of personal choice whether you are out there because you simply like to drive fast and have a good time, or if your primary purpose is for driving a kart is to win races and graduate to other forms of racing. In either case, you will enjoy the sport more if you make the effort to learn the fundamentals of kart control, driving lines, and racing strategy.
Driving technique, kart setup, experience, desire, attitude and talent are all important in getting the kart around the track quickly and safely, which translates into winning races.
This book focuses on driving technique including how to learn the best line around a track and how to detect and describe kart handling problems so that you know whether to adjust the kart or the driver. Attitude and experience are driver attributes that are critical to racing success. The attitude you bring to the track will affect your crew, your performance on the track, and your reputation with potential sponsors.
You cannot succeed in racing on raw talent and a bad attitude. You may win a race now and then, but you will not attract the support of others who will be critical to your future success.
Be yourself, work hard, and have fun. Success will find you.
If you are winning races but you are only racing at one track, then you need to try some new tracks if you want to keep learning and improving.
