Description

By: Mike Mavrigian .

Introduction

This book is intended to guide you through the rebuilding of the 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1995 Gen V and 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000 Gen VI Chevrolet big-block 454 and 502 engines.

Included is information to guide you through the core identification process and teardown, inspection, complete rebuilding/machining, and assembly procedures. All critical tolerances and clearance specifications, as well as fastener torque specs, are included in the Appendix.

We've also included a variety of special notes regarding the many quirks and peculiarities of these engines. None of these differences (as compared to the older Mark IV big-block) will pose a problem, but unless you are aware of the changes, you can create a variety of assembly and operational problems. We include specific GM part numbers for parts that you may need to complete the build.

While this book does not address high-performance or race-prep information specifically, if you have a Gen V or Gen VI 454 or 502 engine that needs to be freshened, this book offers all of the information you'll need.
