INTRODUCTION:
The purpose of this book is to entertain and educate any level of car enthusiasts. Our goal is to enable you to make informed buying decisions.
We want you to be able to purchase the exact product or combination of products which will meet precisely your performance expectations. We also intend to show, at least the more mechanically adept readers, how to install most, if not all, automotive sound equipment themselves.
Automotive audio is a growing hobby, with an incredibly diverse and intelligent membership. One needn't be obsessive to enjoy outstanding musical reproduction in your vehicle.
With a little time and effort you can not only buy great sounding gear, but you'll be able to install it yourself. This book is arranged to follow the signal path. That is, we begin with head units, followed by equalizers, crossovers (dividing networks), amplifiers and speakers.
The following chapter is devoted to speaker enclosures. This includes a few methods of custom mounting midrange and tweeters for optimum sound, but is focused on sub woofer enclosures.
After that we talk about wiring basics, and then we show you how it all comes together in a real world installation.
