The HQ Holden has gone on to become one of the best loved Holdens of all times, yet when it was released its shape was considered much too radical and many didn't like it. The HQ remained on sale until October 1974, so was on sale for a much longer period than any other individual Holden model since the 48-215. Over half a million HQs were built.
There was a lot more to come because the HQ's basic shape remained in production for nine years - through the HJ, HX and HZ, indeed, there was still a lot of HQ in the WB series Holdens that ran well into the 1980s.
In Holden HQ, HJ, HX, WB, 1971-1985, we take you through the complete ranges of vehicles, model by model in a great deal of detail.
We explain the engineering features pioneered by these Holdens, reproduce many contemporary brochures and engineering reports, show you adverts republish original road tests and of other useful information to bring this famous Holden series back life.
