Description

Author: William Haddad, Softbound, 242 Pages, ISBN: 9780863791291, First Edition, 1985 - **SeEcond-Hand Book in excellent condition**

In 1978 the British Government agreed to invest £60,000,000 in a new car manufacturing plant to be built in Northern Ireland by flamboyant American industrialist John DeLorean.

DeLorean's dream of building an 'ethical' sports car in Ubst Belfast, providing thousands of jobs and a symbol of unity and achievement for the strife-torn community was irresistible.

But in little more than four years the dream had turned sour The venture collapsed in public acrimony and political embarrassment; few 'dream cars' ever limped off the production line; the Government's money had disappeared,
and DeLorean himself was facing charges for trafficking in vast quantities of cocaine.

William Haddad, for fifteen years a close associate of DeLorean, places the responsibility for the entire fiasco on John DeLorean himself. Once a passionate admirer of the man, he became disillusioned and later outraged at the methods
DeLorean used to get his own way.

Hard Drivimg is consistently scandalous and frequently hilarious. At its heart is a fascinating portrait of a dynamic and charismatic man who ultimately betrayed his capacity for greatness.
