Ford moved its large car range up-market in 1962 with the introduction of the Mk III models. The Consul name disappeared and the 4-cylinder car was then called the Zephyr 4. A restyled Zephyr 6 remained, and at the top of the range was the Zodiac Mk III. All of these cars had higher power outputs and the Zodiac was Ford's first 100mph production car. In 1965 the Zodiac executive came in. The Mk IVs of 1966 were bigger and bolder, with new engines, independent rear suspension and disc brakes on all four wheels. After a while these developed into generally reliable cars.
This is a book of contemporary road tests, new model introductions, specification and technical data, driver's impressions and used car reports.
Models covered include:
Mk III Zodiac, Zephyr 4, Zephyr 6, Zephyr 6 Estate, Zodiac Superformance, Executive, Zodiac Mk IV, Zephyr 6 Mk IV, Automatic, Zephyr 4 Mk IV, Meissner, Zephyr 4 de luxe, Zodiac Estate.
