Gentlemen, start your engines - the history of Corvette racing is here!

Synopsis

From the very beginning, Chevrolet's Corvette existed for one reason and one reason only: to go racing. America's only sports car has always had an exciting presence on the street, but what the folks who created the car really wanted was to compete on the track.

You know the names: Duntov, Mitchell, Thompson, Davis. You know the cars: Stingray, The Purple People Eater, C5R. And you know the places: Le Mans, Sebring, Daytona. They're all here—the vehicles, racers, and events that made the Corvette a racing legend.

Veteran motorsport illustrator and industry insider David Kimble walks you through six decades of Corvette racing history. From the personalities and rivalries that defined the machine to the engines and technology that powered it, Corvette Racing: The Complete Competition History from Sebring to Le Mans offers everything you ever wanted to know about the cars, the competitors, the rivals, and the legends.

About the Author

David Kimble is a veteran motorsport illustrator who has worked with most of the current major car companies. Growing up in car-crazed southern California he discovered his love of illustration in middle school. Kimble is a master of the cutaway drawing, and several examples of his work are featured in Corvette Racing.

Kimble graduated from Pasadena College in the early 1960s with a degree in physics. He worked with the U.S. Navy as a draftsman, and by 1965 had found work with Car Graphic magazine. Later clients included Road & Track magazine and General Motors, among others. He opened his own studio in Burbank, California, in 1976 and relocated in 1991 to Marfa, Texas, where he bought and renovated the old Palace Theater to serve as his new studio.
