BILL TUCKEY is one of the most senior and most highly-regarded motoring journalists in Australia. Author of six books, including the definitive Book of Australian Motor Racing, now an out-of-print collector's item, he was
for five years the editor-in-chief of Wheels and Sports Car World magazines and later group managing editor of Australia's largest magazine publishing company. His experience includes work in television, film, newspapers, and radio.
He raced sedan cars for 10 years, including three Hardie-Ferodo events, and covered by light aircraft and car the 1964 Ampol Trial, the 1968 London-Sydney Marathon, and the 1970 Ampol Trial.
His last book, written with Tom Floyd and still current, is From Redex To Repco, the history of all the round-Australia events Married, with a son and daughter, and living in Melbourne, he was responsible for most of the writing in An Old Dog For A Hard Road.
TOM FLOYD started his journalistic career with Murray Publishers in 1964 as a founding editor of Australian Hot Rodding Review and then editor of Sports Car World. He then conceived and launched Australia's first successful motoring newspaper, the weekly Motoring News, which ran for five years until Floyd sold his interests and re-joined Murray Publishers as special projects manager.
After five years, during which he established their book division, he resigned to launch his own successful publishing company, now expanding into magazines and books on an international scale. He was responsible for all the research in From Redex
To Repco and some of the writing and most of the difficult and painstaking detail work in this book.
Married with two sons, he lives in Sydney.
