Description
Compiled by Daniel Young, Softbound, 96 Pages, ISBN: 9781873078082, 1st Edition, 1992 - Second-Hand book in good order !
This book is a sequel to Advertising MG, 1929-1955. The emphasis in that volume was on the 'T' Series and the book was warmly received by pre-war MG enthusiasts.
It was suggested that a collection of later MG adverts should be published coincide with the much awaited launch of the new MG RV8. I have accepted Or challenge and hope that the result will be pleasing to the many thousands of particularly MGB, enthusiasts.
What is most remarkable is the dramatic change in the style and tone of advertisinc from the late sixties onwards — the reader will have no difficulty in observite the social changes reflected in the later adverts.
I have attempted to present a balanced selection from the range of materai: available, including several extracts from sales brochures plus a number of items that appeared exclusively in the USA.
I am particularly indebted to James L. Taylor whose name is well known throughout the classic car world, and also to Trevor Alder of Transport Source Books Ltd. Both have given valuable advice and assistance in the preparation of this volume and the collection of the material. I am delighted to feature James Taylor's preview of the MG RV8 on page 3.
I conclude by mentioning that this production complements, in a sense, the many fine and already familiar compilations of road tests, as well as technical publications on MG, produced by Brooklands Books, who have always been eager to help me in my own projects.
